The blog of a young British woman taking on a new life in Japan as an assistant language teacher. No, I've never been to Japan before this, I don't speak the language, nor have I ever stood up in front of a class and taught before. This should be interesting...

Konnichiwa Mirembe!

It's been a while since my last update, hasn't it?
Well, it's hot, I'm lazy, and living in Tsuyama is the same as it's ever been.
Except last week my sister Mirembe came to stay with me for a week, and got to meet all my Japanese people and negotiate the weird and wonderful land that is Japan with me.

The week was rather slow as I had to work so we could only hang out in the evenings, and there was Mirembe's jet lag to contend with too, so things didn't really pick up pace until the weekend when we left my sleepy little town of Tsuyama and headed for the bright lights of Kyoto.

We met random gaijins who invited us into their fold for the night- drinking by the river in the entertainment district was cool- as was the rock bar we went to with some of them afterwards.

In the daytime we did the touristy cultural things, by night we drank and danced the night away in the hottest of Kyoto's clubs, and a good time was had by all. I'm not doing this justice, but Mirembe has promised that she'll write an entry for me so you'll get her views of the whole trip.

I feel knackered but I have to go back to school tomorrow...grrr.

And in other news- the Mormons have left Tsuyama... :(
